Isla Wrap Dress

The Isla Wrap Dress

I have been obsessed with wrap dresses for the past year and a half. Thankfully, pattern companies have been releasing all kinds of them lately. I love the Isla Wrap Dress from Jennifer Lauren because it crosses over in the back. As a large busted lady, I ALWAYS have to wear a tank top under a wrap dress because I fear the neckline becoming more plunging than I intended. Not a problem with the Isla!

This is the second Isla I’ve made, and it won’t be the last. The pattern is so simple to put together; there aren’t any really tricky bits. If you can sew a dart, you can make this dress.

My goal is to make cute clothes that are super comfortable, and the Isla Dress hits both of those targets. It’s perfect.

Fabric

  • Name: Bowling Alley

I have had three yards of this in my stash since 2014! Thankfully, there are other hoarders out there and I found an additional yard on Etsy so I could make this dress out of it.

Size & Alterations

My Measurements

HB: 43″ B: 48″ W:42″ H: 51″ Height: 5’3″

Size

Since it’s a wrap dress I made a straight size 22 from the curve range for this, even though my waist measurements would have put me in a larger size.

Arms

I added two inches to the length of the sleeves.

Neck

Neck

I stitched down the facings all the way around the dress.
