My Sewing Journey

My first attempts at sewing were ill-fated. The few times my mom tried to teach me, it ended in tears and swearing. The sewing class I took when I was 13 was no better. I got my first F.

I only got comfortable sewing when I was pregnant with my first child in 2004. I was nesting, and I couldn’t find anything available for the nursery of my dreams. I went on to sew children’s clothes and then finally my own!

Knitting & Crochet

I picked up knitting after my first child was born. My dad, a consummate knitter, was visiting. We were all sitting around, as you do when your family is meeting and admiring your new beautiful baby, and I had a lot of time on my hands, so it seemed like the time to finally learn!

I have tried to learn to crochet and I kind of can? I feel confident making granny squares, but anything other than that is beyond my grasp. But hey! You can make a lot of cool stuff with granny squares.
